Wilton Mine is now almost completely exhausted, and with its closing mine on a large scale will virtually cease in the Glen Massey Colafield. A geological bulletin on the area is written and conatin some recommendations for drilling within the Waikato area. One such area is the Glen Massrey Coalfield near the old Waipa Mine, and in view of exhaustion of Wilton Mine there is some degree of urgency for the consideration of theadvisability of drilling in this particular case. At Glen Massey ony one drillhole in involved initially, its chance of successfully indicating a coal area sufficient for a medium sized mine are probably about fifty-fifty.
