The applied lease by KM Coal Miners Ltd contains a total of 400,000 tons of extrable coal. This is made up of 165,000 tons indicated and 80,000inferred possible opencast coal, and 50,000tons indicated and 105,000 tons inferred under ground coal. There may be as much coal in adjacent areas but drilling and more prospecting is required beforem ore accurate figures can be given. The quality of the coal is similar to that mined at Okoko and, except for slightly increased ash and sulphur contents.
